Xfer Serum Presets Folder

- Mar 10, 2019 To locate your Serum presets folder. This is probably located at “C: User Documents Xfer Serum Presets “. If you can’t find it or using a mac, simply open up Serum and go to Menu – Show Serum Presets Folder. This folder contains all your Serum presets, wavetables, LFO’s and noises.

This post is a step-by-step guide on how to add new Serum presets.
For the serum presets that I make for myself, I organize them into their own folders (growls, plucks, pads, dope leads, etc.) The problem is to access each one, I have to go into serums menu and click on load preset each time. This is just not a nice workflow since I can't just scroll through my own.
1 | Find the folder where your existing Serum presets are contained
By default, on Windows – this location is:
C:Users<username>DocumentsXferSerum PresetsPresets
If your Serum presets are stored elsewhere, you can find the directory path by loading Serum and clicking the floppy disk icon to bring up a save dialog box. The directory path for User presets will be in the navigation bar, you can copy this and paste it into File Explorer.
Once you have reached your Serum presets folder, you can create new folders and sub-folders to organise your presets.
2 | Move the preset into the correct folder
It may help you to keep track of your downloaded presets by creating a folder inside the Serum presets directory called “Downloaded Presets” and then having sub-folders for each site you download from.
Once you have created the folders you want, move each preset (.fxp file) you have downloaded into the appropriate folder.

3 | Refresh all plugin instances
In order for the changes you have made to be reflected in the UI, you need to close and re-open all plugin instances. Make sure you have saved your work before you do this!
Once this has been done, you should be able to access your presets within the Serum UI.

If you want to move the preset folder for Serum, maybe to the HHD instead of the SSD, it is deceptively simple to do.

Before you launch Serum, simply take the entire “Serum Presets” folder and move it to the desired location.
Then, go and launch Serum. You will be asked to point to the “Serum Presets” folder.
Do that.

There you go. That’s all there is to it.
NOTE: For the latest Serum update (v1.20b9), released June 30, 2017, there is a new folder called Skins. If you are just trying to point Serum to your cloud storage version of the earlier version of Serum you will want to make sure that you keep the Skins folder and place it in the Serum Presets folder.
